A much colder day
Hill snow showers

Friday
A cold front is affecting southeast England at first this morning. This brings showery bursts of rain as it clears south. Much brighter, colder weather will be following behind the front bringing good spells of sunshine to. Most showers around western, northern and eastern areas, best sunshine in central parts. The showers turning wintry over the hills of Scotland and the Pennines. Southern Scotland should be dry with plenty of sunshine. A strong northerly wind with tops of 6C in northern Scotland, 11C in southeast England.


Friday Night
A very cold night with a fresh to strong northerly wind afecting all areas. Showers continue, mainly on western, northern and eastern coasts. The showers will be wintry over the hills of Northern Ireland, Wales and eastern England, and to lower levels in northern Scotland. Clearer skies and dry weather with a frost elsewhere. Lows at -1 to 3C.
 


Saturday
The cold, northerly flow continues through Saturday with high pressure west of Ireland and low pressure east of the UK. Showers affecting western, northern and eastern coasts and hills, these falling as sleet and snow over the hills. Tending to be cloudier at times in East Anglia where showers may penetrate inland. Elsewhere it should be bright with good spells of sunshine. Top temperatures at 5 to 8C but feeling much colder in the wind.


Sunday
A ridge of high pressure builds into Ireland and the west of the UK on Sunday. The flow turns more northeasterly and this leads to eastern areas seing most cloud and some showers. Tending to be brighter in the west with the best of the sunshine here. Some showers in eastern Ireland, but these fading. Another cold day with an early frost and temperatures reaching 7 to 10C.
