Low pressure bringing rain in central and northern Scotland, some of the rain heavy. Breezy for southern Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland. Showers, some of them heavy in southern Wales and southern Enland whilst being drier and brighter with sunshine in Ireland. By this afternoon rain wil clear northern Scotland, although heavy showers continue in western Scotland. Further heavy showers for the south of Wales, southern England and western Ireland. The best sunshine in northern England and southern and eastern Scotland as well as eastern Ireland. Staying breezy. Highs at 10 to 15C.

Tuesday Night
Some heavy showers tonight in northern England, Wales, the Midlands and southern England as wel as western Scotland. These showers should be fading during the early hours with most arreas then becoming dry with clear spells. Severe gales reaching Ireland later in the night, with rain in western Ireland by morning. Lows at a chilly 2C in central Scotland, 7C in southeast England.

Wednesday
Starting fair in eastern areas of the country on Wednesday morning as a weak ridge of high pressure builds. A deep area of low pressure is northwest of Ireland and this brings heavy periods of rain and severe gales into Ireland, western Scotland, western England and Wales. Wind gusts could be in excess of 70mph. The rain and gales spread eastwards through the day with squally showers following to northern and western Ireland as well as western Scotland. Highs at 9 to 14C.

Thursday
Prolonged rain may be affecting southern and southeast England as well as East Anglia on Thursday as a front becomes slow moving through the area. There is a risk of localised flooding. Some showers in western and southern Wales as well as southwest England and southern Ireland. Further north it becomes brighter with good spells of sunshine. Some showery rain affecting the far north of Scotland, Orkney and Shetland. Highs near 9 to 12C.
