A weakening front brings cloud and some patchy rain to southeast England in the morning, but this will be fading out with brightening skies into the afternoon. Windy with some heavy showers in north and western Scotland. A few showers in northwest England will fade. Generally dry across central England and Wales as a ridge of high pressure builds bringing good sunny spells, the best of them in the east. Feeling fresh in the breeze, 11C in northern Scotland, 16C in southern England.

Monday night
A dry night for England, Wales and much of Ireland under building high pressure. Winds dropping light with mist and fog patches forming under fairly clear skies. Cloudier toward the northwest with a little rain or drizzle for western Scotland and northern coasts of Ireland. Breezier in the north too. Temperatures dipping to 5 to 8C in towns and cities, but cooler in rural areas, some spots closer to freezing with slight grass frost by dawn.

Tuesday
A ridge of high pressure extends across the southern half of Britain. Dry with bright or sunny spells after morning mist and fog patches clear. Cloud and outbreaks of rain in western Scotland and northwest Ireland. Northwest England and Wales should be mainly dry barring an odd patch of light rain developing, fairly cloudy here. Light winds in the south, freshening southwesterly breezes in the northwest. Highs 12 to 15C.

Wednesday
A fresh southwesterly wind and a front pushing into Scotland, northern and western England and Wales, bringing showery periods of rain, some of them heavy. Patchy rain extends eastwards across the Midlands. Drier toward southeastern England with high pressure nearby. Brighter and drier weather follows to Ireland. Highs 17C in the southeast, 11C in northern Scotland.
