Monday
A ridge of high pressure over England and Wales on Monday. This brings some morning mist and fog patches early on. These clear to leave a dry and bright day with some decent spells of sunshine in the east and south. Cloudier further north and west with rain affecting the west of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland, becoming increasingly heavy in the west here as southwesterly winds increase to gale force. Highs at 18C in the sunshine in the south, 12C in western Scotland, 17C in Ireland.

Monday night
Rain continues to affect western Scotland and the far west of Ireland overnight, some persistent heavy falls. Some heavy rain also extending into central Scotland, but little toward the east. Patchy drizzly rain for Cumbria and perhaps southwestern parts of Wales, but most of England and Wales should stay dry into the night. Variable cloud in the west, clearer skies in central and eastern regions. A fresh southwesterly breeze should prevent fog for most. Mild, lows 9 to 13C.

Tuesday
Cloud and rain in Scotland and northwest England, windy here too. Much of the rain clearing Ireland and Scotland may also improve during the afternoon. Patchy rain in the west of Wales turning heavier and more widespread in the afternoon. Rain spreading further east across northern England later. Central and southern England staying dry and breezy, some sunshine in the east and feeling pleasantly warm in that sun. Highs at 20C in eastern England, 15C in western Scotland.

Wednesday
A broad swathe of rain extends across Britain, shifting further eastwards across central and southern England during the day. On the back edge of this rain band, expect a period of squally torrential rain for England and Wales, followed by quickly clearing skies and sunshine, but showers will follow from the west. In Scotland, rain persistent for a time followed by cluster of heavy showers with hail in the west. Windy for all, gales near coasts. Highs 13 to 20C, humid in the south.
