Thursday
Rain, some of it heavy this morning across much of England and eastern Wales. This rain area passing east through the morning and is likely to be clear of eastern coasts early this afternoon. There will be period of severe gales in southeast England early in the morning with gusts of 60mph, possibly strong enough to cause some minor damage. More western areas will be brighter and breezy with sunny spells. Further showers affecting western coasts and hills. Another area of severe gales reaching northwest Scotland later. Highs at 14C in southeast England, 8C as cooler air returns to Scotland and Ireland.

Thursday Night
Severe gales in northern and western Scotland tonight with gales in northwest England and Ireland. Showers continue to be affecting western and southern coasts and hills. More persistent showers and rain in western Scotland and the far north of Northern Ireland. Drier in central and eastern parts of the country. Lows at 3 to 7C.
 

Friday
Low pressure north of Scotland on Friday. Fronts surrounding the low bringing showers or longer spells of rain with them across much of Scotland. The showers turning wintry on the hills. The showers more scattered to the south with better sunny spells in central and eastern areas. Always some showers affecting western coasts and hills as well. Highs at 6 to 10C.
 

Saturday
An area of low pressure swings west to east through the UK and Ireland on Saturday. This takes periods of rain with it, some heavy and the risk of some gales in southern and eastern England. Heavy showers in Scotland, wintry on the hills. Drier and brighter weather follows from the west. Winds easing as the low clears to the east. Highs at 2 to 7C in Scotland, 9C in Ireland, 7 to 9C in northern England, 14C in southern England.
