Rain in west tonight

Thursday
A mild day on Thursday and rather breezy over much of the UK. An area of rain affects the western UK and eastern parts of Ireland. The rain could be heavy at times in southwest Scotland, Wales and Cornwall. Drier for most of Ireland although some cloud and rain always affecting western and southern coasts and hills. This afternoon sees little change with much of the central and easter UK being dry although more rain affects the west. Highs at 11 to 15C.


Thursday Night
Staying wet in western Wales, Cornwall, central and southwest Scotland tonight, the rain heavy at times once again. Drier in eastern Wales and much of England and eastern Scotland. Dry too in much of Ireland although rain in the far west and along far eastern coasts. Lows at 7 to 12C.
 


Friday
Showery rain in northern England and Scotland on Friday morning as an occluded front tracks eastwards. Tending to be drier to the south and east with showery rain fading. A deepening area of low pressure develops west of Ireland during the day bringing gale force winds and rain through Ireland and into the west of Wales and southwest England by lunchtime, this then spreading east and north to be over all but the far east of England and northern Sotland by evening. Severe gales in places. Highs at 9 to 13C.


Saturday
Low pressure west of Scotland on Friday. A front clears eastern parts of the UK in the morning taking rain with it. Following is a showery west to southwest flow. There will be sunny spells but also showers, these more likely over western and southern coasts and hills. The showers become heavier in the afternoon mainly affecting Wales, England an southern Scotland. Highs at 9 to 13C.
