Very mild south, dull
Becoming cooler from north

Tuesday
A cloudy day overall. Outbreaks of light rain or drizzle, most persistent for western coasts and hills where generally murky. Brighter skies developing in northern areas as a weak cold front clears south. A little sun breaking through in the north-east. A west or south-westerly breeze, strongest near coasts. Tuesday night
Overcast skies and patchy rain or drizzle for southern Britain. Extensive hill fog for south-west England & Wales. Mainly dry for the Midlands & northern England, with some cloud breaks in north-eastern regions. In Scotland & N.Ireland, rain will develop from the west, turning heavy and setting in, spreading to north-west England before dawn. Winds increasing to gale force in far north-west. Mild for most, lows 8 to 12C, locally 5C.

Wednesday
A cold front advances southwards, ushering in cooler conditions through mid-week. A belt of heavy rain in the north-west pushes south, but tending to fade, becoming a zone of showers as it reaches the Midlands. Further showers will follow into the north-west of Britain & Ireland, turning increasingly wintry over the Scottish Highlands. Blustery westerly winds. Temperatures 10 to 13C Midlands & south, cooler in north at 7 to 9C.

Thursday
A chilly westerly pattern across the country. Blustery winds and squally, heavy showers - these most frequent around coasts in the west & south, but will advance well inland. Bursts of rain, hail, or snow over hills, particularly in the Scottish Highlands. Isolated thunder and lightning in the north-west. Fewest showers in the east. A little sun. Feeling cold in the wind, highs 6 to 10C.
