Wednesday
A cloudy morning across much of England and Wales. Outbreaks of rain affecting parts of northern England and Scotland as well as the far southeast. Most of the rain will be light and patchy. Mostly dry elsewhere, perhaps wth a few brighter spells breaking through as the day progresses. Scotland and Ireland as well as the far north of England will have a much brighter day with plenty of sunshine. A widespread frost at first. Patchy cloud may increase across western Scotland later but generally it will be a fine day for most. Highs at 6C in much of Scotland although no higher than 2C in some central valleys, nearer a milder 10C in the far south of England.


Wednesday Night
Cloudy skies across the ar south of England and southern Wales overnight. Patchy rain affecting these areas too, although fading as the night progresses. Thicker cloud too in the far north of Scotland. In-between these areas skies will be clearer and it will be dry. Fog patches develop, especially in northern England and southern Scotland. A widespread frost in Scotland and parts of the north of northern England as well as Ireland. Lows at -10C in central Scotland, more generally -2 to -5C here. No frost in southern England at 5C.


Thursday
An area of high pressure centred over Scotland on Thursday. A brisk northeasterly flow making it feel especially chilly over southern England. Plenty of cloud here, but this may break in places with some bright or sunny spells coming through. Cloud too in the far north of Scotland. Elsewhere it will be brighter with long spells of sunshine and, after a morning frost, temperatures in Scotland will reach 4 to 6C but 7 to 9C in other areas.


Friday
High pressure remains over Scotland and northern England on Friday. A brisk northeast wind across southern England making for chilly conditions here. Patchy cloud in northern Scotland and a little affecting eastern coasts of England too. Other places seeing some more mist and fog patches although these clearing to leave the day dry with good spells of sunshine. Highs at 5 to 9C.
