Colder but sunnier, dry
Frosty by night

Monday
The area of high pressure that built in across the country at the weekend is going to be the main feature of the weather this week keeping most places dry. A cold, frosty start across the western parts of Scotland and north west England. As the winds come around to a drier east to south easterly direction, we should see much more in the way of sunshine today as cloud moves away. It will be quite a breezy day in the south so feeling quite cold across the country today, but all parts should be dry. Expect maximums of 3 to 7 Celsius north to south.

Monday night
It becomes windier across Scotland this evening and overnight with a lot of cloud in the west and across Northern Ireland. Some light rain to affect the Western Isles tonight. The rest of Britain is going to be clear and cold overnight with a widespread frost across England and Wales. Expect minimum temperatures of -2 to +2 Celsius.

Tuesday
A windy day across Scotland with some light rain across parts of Northern Ireland, northern and south west Scotland. For England and Wales any early mist patches will clear, otherwise it's a fine, settled day with unbroken amounts of sunshine. The northern half of the country will be cloudy during the night with some rain in the far north of Scotland, heavier across Shetland. Again a cold night for England and Wales with a widespread frost across Wales and central and southern parts of England along with a risk of some locally dense patches of freezing fog by morning. Expect top temperatures of 4 to 7 Celsius.

Wednesday
Strong northwest winds will be developing through the day with gusts to 50 mph over the Scottish hills, less windy in the south of England. A cloudy day across northern Britain with light rain across parts of Scotland. From The Midlands south it will be dry with the best of the sunshine. Apart from some light rain near the coasts of western Scotland, it's a dry, breezy evening and night with clear spells. A local frost may develop in the south west and across Wales. Look for high temperatures of 5 to 10 Celsius.
