Wet & windy Friday
Blustery weekend

Thursday
A cloudy start and wet for some across southern England before gradually drying and brightening up here. Further north as a ridge of high pressure builds many places will be dry and fine with sunny spells, though some coastal showers are still to be expected. A band of showery rain also looks to move southwards down England through the day. Cloud increases in the west later as a front approaches. Highs at a slightly less cool 14 to 17C.

Thursday Night
Overnight, cloud continues to build from the west though far eastern areas staying largely clear. Rain will move across much of Scotland though the far east should stay largely dry until dawn with rain reaching north and west Wales by morning. Winds strengthen also. Dry further east. Lows at 6 to 10C.

Friday
Frontal rain, heavy and persistent in places, continues to push eastwards across Ireland and the UK, clearing Ireland and much of Scotland by midday with brighter weather to follow but also blustery showers. A windy day with strong to near gales expected, gale force for those exposed and along some coasts. Highs at 17C in southern England, 13C in northern Scotland.

Saturday
A windy day with gales expected in the north and towards coasts. Sunny spells and blustery showers, these showers heavy and frequent in the west. Cloudier across southern England with the risk of some rain moving eastwards across far southern counties though there is low confidence in this currently. Highs at 12 to 14C in the north, a milder 16 to 18C across the south and southeast.
