Showers spreading east
Blustery winds

Thursday
Low pressure over the North Sea brings a changeable day. A mix of bright or sunny spells and areas of showery rain, which may locally merge to several hours of near-constant rain. Showers will be most widespread in the west & north in the morning, transferring east across the Midlands into East Anglia & the south-east in the afternoon. Improving in the west & north. A fresh south-westerly breeze, veering northerly in Scotland. Highs 18 tp 22C.

Thursday night
Residual showers will tend to fade into the evening, and clear spells will develop for most place. High pressure begins to build from the south-west and the wind will ease. Cloud and patchy rain or drizzle may linger for Northern Ireland and western Scotland, but amounts small. Temperatures 10 to 13C for most, but where skies stay clear, locally dipping to 5 to 8C in rural valleys in the north & west of Britain, also Northern Ireland.

Friday
A ridge of high pressure builds from the south-west. Dry with a good amount of sunshine for most places, particularly coastal areas. A few showers are possible in eastern areas of Scotland & England, mostly afternoon. High cloud may thicken across Ireland as fronts approach from the west, perhaps giving a little rain in the north. A west to south-westerly breeze. Top temperatures 18 to 21C north & west, up to 23C south & east.

Saturday
Dry with warm sunshine for the Midlands, south & east. Fronts bring rain or drizzle to Ireland & Scotland, turning persistent over the West Highlands. Thickening cloud for western England & Wales, perhaps a spot of rain on hills, and the south-west may become murky. Freshening south-westerly winds, later risk of gales in the far north-west. Highs 18 to 21C north & west, 23 to 25C central & south-east England, feeling humid.
