Showers in west later

Friday
A windy and damp day over Ireland and western parts of Wales and England this morning. The rain may be heavy at times over the hills. Drier for northern and eastern parts of England at first. Rain is going to be passing into northern and eastern England through the morning and afternoon, reaching southern Scotland too. Heavier periods of rain in Northern Ireland for a time, but becoming drier in the afternoon. Brighter and drier weather reaching Ireland and Wales as well as southwest England as the morning progresses. However, despite some sunshine developing here, showers will move in through the afternoon, these becoming heavy. Winds to gale force in the west and south with rough seas developing. Highs at 15 to 21C.


Friday Night
A breezy night with bands of showers rotating around low pressure to the west of Ireland. he showers will be heaviest and most frequent in northern and western areas. More persistent rain affecting the far north of Scotland as first. Drier in the east and south, although a few showers here and there. Lows near 9 to 14C.
 


Saturday
Low pressure is expected to be centred over Northern Ireland on Saturday. Strong winds to the south of the low bringing gusts of over 50mph. There will be frequent, heavy showers for most, these merging into longer spells of rain in parts of Ireland, western England and Wales with a risk of some thunderstorms too. Less showers east and south where the best of the sunshine will be, although showers could still be heavy when they occur. The strongest of the winds transferring eastwards through the south of the UK in the evening and overnight. Highs at 15 to 22C.


Sunday
Low pressure areas are west and east of the country on Sunday with a weak ridge building inbetween the two. Showers in the east, some heavy through the morning tending to ease through the afternoon. More scattered showers to the west with sunny spells to start the day. Fronts bringing rain into Ireland in the morning, pushing east into Wales and southwest England on Sunday afternoon and evening. Tending to be druer and brighter in northern Scotland throughout. Tops at 16 to 21C.
