Rain, sleet & hill snow
Gales at times

Sunday
A cold day on Sunday with low pressure centred over Scotland. A band of more persistent rain, sleet and snow lies just to the south of the low centre bringing more persistent precipitation to parts of Northern Ireland and western and southern parts of Scotland, and northern England as well at times. Wintry showers affect Ireland as well as western coasts and hills of England and Wales. Gales may continue to affect parts of Ireland, Wales, northern England and southern Scotland. Highs at 3 to 9C.

Sunday Night
Sleet and snow continue to affect central and northern parts of Scotland but this fades through the night. A band of heavy rain moves eastward along the southern coast of England, accompanied by gusty winds. Showers persist for western coasts and hills through the night for Ireland and the UK - some of these will be wintry. Overnight lows widely at -1 to 3C in towns and cities allowing for a widespread frost and patchy ice to form.

Monday
Low pressure north of Scotland on Monday brings rain, sleet and snow showers to western Scotland, Northern Ireland and, later, northern England. These may merge to give longer spells of precipitation. Elsewhere will be brighter but with some wintry showers affecting western coasts and hills. Some showers may spread across central and eastern parts of England later. A windy day for western coastal areas with highs at 3 to 7C.

Tuesday
A transient ridge of high pressure may bring a more settled day on Tuesday with some sunny spells developing for many. Scattered wintry showers over western areas tend to fade through the day though persist over western Scotland where some may be wintry. High temperatures around 4 to 8C.
