Storm Dennis brings heavy periods of rain across the country on Saturday. Severe gales will be widespread with gusts of over 70mph on western and southern coasts, 50 to 60mph inland with a risk of some damage to trees and buildings and disruption to transport. There is the chance of some snow in the afternoon across, mainly, the hills of Wales and northern England. Further snow over the hills and mountains of Scotland, especially the west. Heavy showers follow to Ireland. Highs at 7 to 11C for most, but 12 or 13C in eastern England.

Saturday Night
Outbreaks of heavy rain continue over night for Ireland, Wales and much of England. Easing for Ireland by morning. Heavy showers, some of them wintry for western parts of Scotland and Ireland. These could merge over the Scottish highlands to give longer spells of snow here. Staying very windy overnight too with gales for western and southern coasts. Overnight lows at 1 to 5C for Ireland, Scotland and Northern Ireland; 7 to 12C for much of England and Wales.

Sunday
Low pressure reamins northwest of Scotland on Sunday. Further periods of heavy rain in central and southern England as well as Wales. Windy with severe gales and a further risk of flooding in southern England. Drier and brighter in northern England and north Wales as well as much of Ireland, apart from showers in the west. Heavy and frequent wintry showers in western Scotland, drier in the east. Windy for all. Highs at 12C in the far southeast of England, 4 to 9C for most.

Monday
An area of low pressure is north east of Scotland on Monday. It should be a brighter day but remaining windy with gales n the north and west. Heavy and frequent showers across northern and western Scotland, northwest England and much of western Ireland, these falling as snow over the hills. Generally drier across more southern areas. Feeling cold everywhere in the wind. Highs at 4 to 9C.
