Dry for much of the UK this morning, although it will be raining in western Scotland as well as Ireland. Increasing cloud further east as the rain band gets closer, bringing wetter weather across most of Scotland, heavy rain in the west with snow on hills.The rain turning more showery as it reaches northern and central England, although some heavy bursts in the southwest. It may stay dry to the southeast. Drier weather follows to Ireland. Highs at 7 to 12C.

Friday Night
Rain arriving in the far south of England overnight and becoming slow moving here. Cloud and drizzle affects western Ireland and western Scotland. Drier for most other areas tonight with some clearer spells. Lows at 2 to 5C for most.

 
 
 

Saturday
Storm Dennis brings heavy periods of rain across all of the country on Saturday. Severe gales will be widespread with gusts of over 70mph on western and southern coasts, 50 to 60mph inland with a risk of some damage to trees and buildings and disruption to transport. There is the chance of some snow in the afternoon across, mainly, the hills of Wales and northern England. Further snow over the hills and mountains of Scotland, especially the west. heavy showers follow to Ireland. Highs at 3 to 6C overall, but 10C in southeast England and closer to 7C in Ireland.

Sunday
Low pressure reamins northwest of Scotland on Sunday. Further periods of heavy rain in central and southern England as well as Wales. Windy with severe gales and a further risk of flooding in southern England. Drier and brighter in northern England and north Wales as well as much of Ireland, apart from showers in the west. Heavy and frequent wintry showers in western Scotland, drier in the east. Windy for all. Highs at 13C in southern England, 4 to 6C for most.
