Dry until Friday night
Sunshine, some fog

Thursday
High pressure centred over eastern England maintains quiet weather. Areas of fog lifting into banks of low cloud, which may be stubborn to break up in places, particularly central-eastern England. Dry during the day with broken cloud and some spells of sunshine for many places. The best sunshine toward the northeast. Increased breeze in western Ireland and the west of Scotland. Highs at 6 to 8C.

Thursday night
Staying dry overall. Light winds and areas of fog or low cloud across central and eastern England. Further west and northwest, a fresher southerly breeze should prevent fog forming. Temperatures dipping to 3 or 4C for many towns and cities, or closer to freezing in the countryside - greatest risk of frost across Wales, northern England and inland areas of Scotland.

Friday
High pressure to the east and a trough of low pressure to the west promotes a freshening southerly wind across the British Isles. Dry for most of Britain all day, with broken cloud and sunshine, best in the east and northeast. Patchy rain coming in from the west, becoming more persistent into the evening in western areas. Highs 6 to 10C, mildest in southwest.

Saturday
A front passes eastward with a spell of rain overnight into Saturday morning, clearing eastern counties into the morning. A few clusters of showers follow from the west, but there will be sunny spells too. A brisk southwesterly wind, will strengthen further into the evening and night as more rain comes in from the Atlantic. Highs 7 to 10C.
