A very windy day for all as a deep area of low pressure passes north of Britain. Widespread gales with the strongest gusts around exposed coasts in the west and north, topping 70 to 80mph. Heavy rain passing eastwards, most prolonged over western hills. Driest toward the southeast of England. Showers, these often heavy, follow from the west. These will turn wintry over higher ground to the north. Mild air with high temperatures reaching 7 to 15C, warmest in eastern England.

Sunday night
Western coasts and hills see showers continuing overnight, these turning increasingly wintry through the night. Southern parts of England and Wales could see a pulse of heavy rain develop that sweeps eastward through the night. Drier for eastern parts of Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales with the best of any clear skies over eastern areas too. Staying windy. Overnight lows widely ranging from 1 to 5C, temperatures falling below freezing in more rural areas to the north.

Monday
Chillier air moves in from the northwest and it stays very windy across the country. Strong to gale force westerlies will drive frequent showers and pulses of rain across Britain and Ireland. A small low pressure system could develop over Ireland, Wales and England that could see snow for a time to lower levels over Wales and the Midlands. Snow over hills to the north and west and potentially to lower levels in the north. Drier to the east with some bright spells. Highs at 3 to 8C.

Tuesday
Strong northwesterly winds, gales for western caosts and hills, continue to affect the UK and Ireland as a deep low pressure system stays in charge to our northeast. Showers of rain, sleet and snow affect western coasts and hills across the country with the potential for heavy snow over northern Scotland and snow to lower levels across western Scotland. Mainly dry for central, southern and eastern parts of England with good spells of sunshine here. Chilly with high temperatures at 2 to 7C.
