Wet & windy start
Brighter, cooler from west

Saturday
Cloud and rain will be sweeping east through the country on Saturday morning. Some snow over the hills of Scotland and tops of the Pennines. The rain may turn heavy as it clears east. Brighter weather with showers follow from the west, these turning wintry, especially in western Scotland. The afternoon is likely to be brighter and dry in the east, although some cloud and outbreaks of rain slow to clear the southeast. Further showers affecting western coasts and hills. Feeling cold in the wind with highs at 5 to 9C.

Saturday Night
Showers affecting western Wales and western parts of England at first. More persistent rain and showers in western Scotland later. Most central, eastern and southern areas should be dry. Lows near 1 to 3C for most, 4 to 5C over western coasts and hills.

Sunday
A area of low pressure passes through Scotland on Sunday. This is going to be bringing a spell of rain with it, this falling as sleet or snow for a short time over the Pennines, Grampians and southern Uplands. Some showers developing over Wales and western England, these passing eastwards into the rest of England on the afternoon. Showers too in Ireland and breezy. Turning drier from the west through the afternoon. Highs at 5 to 8C.

Monday
A windy day for all with gales to the north and west. A front with rain associated with low pressure west of Ireland will push eastwards across the country, and is likely to bring some snow on the preceding edge over the hills of northern England and Scotland. Drier and brighter yet still windy weather follows from the west although some blustery showers, wintry on hills. Highs 4 to 10C.
