Tuesday
Some rather dense mist and fog patches across many parts of England and Wales at first. This will only slowly clear, but when it does expect bright and sunny skies. Cloudier and windier further north and west with outbreaks of rain pushing into Ireland and Scotland, becoming more persistent in the west later. A mild day particularly toward the north and west with highs at 7 to 10C, but cooler across central and eastern England where fog lingers.

Tuesday night
Heavy rain affects northwest Scotland into the evening and night, some rain spilling south and eastwards, also across Ireland into northwest England and Wales. Rain will turn to snow on the mountains. Strong westerly winds, may touch gale force around coasts and hills in the northwest. Less windy in the south with touch of frost possible. Staying generally dry for central, south and eastern England. Lows 1 to 3C south, less cold under cloud in the north, 4 to 6C.

Wednesday
A cloudier and breezier day across England and Wales as a weak front sinks south across the country bringing rain for a time to northern and western areas, mostly small amounts reaching the Midlands. A little patchy rain moving into southeastern areas, but mostly dry here. Somewhat milder for England and Wales too. A mainly dry, bright and slightly cooler day across Scotland and Northern Ireland, some snow showers on the mountains in the north. Highs at 5 to 10C.

Thursday
A cooler day as a north to northwesterly wind affects Britain, strongest toward the east of England and Scotland, where some showers will brush coastal districts, running south across East Anglia. Expect a frosty start where sheltered from the wind, but a dry and bright day for most places. Variable cloud in the northwest, sunniest toward central and southern England. Highs 4 to 7C, but feeling closer to freezing in the wind.
