A zone of rain is expected to lie across central-southern England and Wales, and may persist over many hours locally. Variable cloud and some sunnier breaks in central and northern areas. Dry for Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland. Best sunshine in western Scotland. Cool east, milder west; highs 7 to 14C.

 


Tuesday night
Patchy rain continues for southernmost counties, with skies staying cloudy. Dry with clearer skies for central and northern areas. Winds mostly light. A likelihood of frost in rural parts of Scotland, northern England and perhaps Ireland. Lows -1 to 2C north, 3 to 6C south.
 


Wednesday
Generally dry. Remnants of a front may bring a little rain to southwestern coasts. Fairly cloudy skies for central-southern England, but some sunshine breaking through, and extensively sunny toward the west and northwest. Feeling cool in a brisk easterly breeze in the south. Top temperatures 7 to 12C.
 


Thursday
Most places will be dry under high pressure and light east to southeasterly winds. Best sunshine in the northwest, cloudier toward the southeast. A fresh breeze on English Channel coasts. A frosty morning, and a cool day, highs 8 to 12C, locally warmer to the lee of high ground in the northwest, 15C or above in NW Scotland.
