Monday
Low pressure centred over Ireland and to the southwest of Britain. Fronts drift slowly northwards over the country. Rain and drizzle affect many areas, some heavy rain toward the southwest. Hill snow for Scotland. Drier toward southeast England. Extensive cloud and murk. South to southeasterly breezes. Chilly in the north, highs 4 to 6C, up to 9C in the Midlands, to 11C in the southeast.


Monday night
Bursts of rain for the southwest of Britain and southern Ireland. Rain and snow for Scotland, the snow falling to low elevations in the Highlands, focused on the eastern Highlands with sustained heavy snowfalls possible here combined with strong easterly winds. Drier across central and England, with variable amounts of cloud. Overnight temperatures 3 to 5C for many, nearer 0C in Highland Scotland.


Tuesday
Slack low pressure centred over Ireland. Areas of patchy rain and showers for southern England, Wales and Ireland. Locally escaping drier for periods. A fair amount of cloud overall. Snow continues to affect the Scottish Highlands well into the daytime, gradually breaking up. Easterly winds continue in the north. Light variable breezes in the south. Highs 5C in Scotland, to 9 to 12C elsewhere.


Wednesday
Low pressure deepens again from the southwest and dominates over Britain and Ireland with areas of rain and heavy showers rotating in from the southwest. Downpours with hail and thunder in the south and especially southwestern areas. Brisk southerly winds. Snow on Scottish hills. Highs 7 to 12C.
