Murky and damp
Light winds

Friday
A slack pressure regime across the British Isles will result in a rather dull day for most places, with extensive low cloud and murk. Patchy rain or drizzle, mostly in western areas, heaviest for south-west Scotland. Largely dry for central & eastern regions, although expect a damp atmosphere. A little sun may break through in the south-east. Mostly very light winds. Temperatures between 7 and 11C.

Friday night
Pressure builds from the south-west, and anticyclonic conditions will then dominate throughout the weekend. Substantially dry, but patches of drizzle are likely in western areas, particularly over the hills. Extensive low level cloud or fog across England & Wales. Some clearer breaks may develop for Scotland & Northern Ireland, where temperatures may dip close to zero. Otherwise, lows 3 to 6C.

Saturday
A fair day in most places. Low cloud or fog for many in the morning, and may persist much of the day in central regions. Some sunshine should break through across northern England, particularly east of the Pennines. Patchy rain possible in northern Scotland, accompanied by a south-westerly breeze here. Otherwise, winds will be very light. Highs 7 to 10C, locally cooler where fog lingers.

Sunday
Another dry day for many areas. A lot of cloud overall, and some low level fog patches which may be slow to clear. Some sun may break through locally. A little rain possible in western Scotland, where a fresh south-westerly breeze is likely. Very light winds elsewhere. Top temperatures 6 to 8C, or nearer 10C around the coasts. Locally cooler where fog persists.
