Colder, windy, gales north
Showers north, dry south

Boxing Day
After that mild Christmas day a strong north west wind turns it colder today. Another windy day, especially across northern areas and these winds will strengthen in the afternoon with gusts of 70 mph expected across northern Scotland and the Northern Isles. Gusts of 60 mph are expected over the hills of northern England. These strong winds will bring showers to Scotland and north western parts of England, these wintry over high ground but may fall to low levels across parts of Scotland. Elsewhere it's going to be a dry day with sunny spells. Cloudy in the east and south but dry. Expect highs of 3 to 8 Celsius.

Boxing Day Night
Any residual showers will soon fade away early in the evening. Most places end the day dry with clear spells. Overnight it will be dry across much of Britain with England and Wales seeing mostly clear skies and with the winds dropping here we can expect a frost. Minimum temperatures of 4 to 5 Celsius Scotland, 0 to 3 Celsius England and Wales.

Tuesday
Windy in the north and the west and feeling cold today. Apart from a few showers in the north west of Scotland, high pressure is expected to give much of Britain a fine, dry day with good sunny spells. Some light rain may affect the Western Isles tonight. Most of the country will be dry with a frost perhaps restricted to parts of the Midlands, East Anglia and the south east where it will be less windy. Expect top temperatures of 5 to 7 Celsius.

Wednesday
Windy but the winds won't be as strong as recent day. Most places will have a dry day today. Best of the sunshine will be across England, Wales and Northern Ireland while more in the way of cloud will be found across Scotland. Overnight it will be cloudy across western parts of Britain and this may produce some light outbreaks of rain at times. A clear night across eastern Britain and it will be could enough for a frost. Look for high temperatures of 5 to 9 Celsius.
