Many places will see a dry and fairly bright day, but there will be a scattering of showers around, some locally heavy with a risk of thunder. Northwest Scotland will be murkier as a front drifts in here, with drizzly rain on and off. Northern England likely stays generally dry, and much of East Anglia and the southeast also looks dry. Some sunshine but generally a lot of cloud around. Light southwesterly breezes. Highs 19 to 22C, but only 14C in western Scotland.

Tuesday night
A few showers will continue to drift around late into the evening, but most will fizzle out to leave mainly dry conditions and variable amounts of cloud overnight. Some rain is expected to move eastwards across Ireland and may encroach into some western coasts of Britain by dawn. A freshening southerly breeze near the west coasts, otherwise winds are light. Overnight minima 7 to 12C, coolest across rural parts of Scotland, northern England and mid-Wales.

Wednesday
A front drifting into northwestern Britain is likely to bring some periods of rain to western Scotland and northwest England. Some showery bursts of rain drifting across eastern Scotland and northeast England through the day, risk of thunder. Patchy rain or showers for Wales also. Central, south and southeast England more likely to stay dry, but one or two heavy showers are possible. Mostly light south or southwesterly winds. Highs 17 to 23C, warmest around the East Midlands.

Thursday
Low pressure moves across Britain bringing widespread rain and heavy showers. The wettest conditions tending to advance eastwards through the day. Risk of thunderstorms locally. Northern Scotland likely escaping driest with a little sunshine. Strong south to southwesterly winds, may gust gale force around coasts in southwest England. Temperatures rather cool in rain, between 13 and 17C, maximum 22C in brighter spells.
