Wet and windy
Torrential downpours

Friday
An unsettled pattern with low pressure in charge. Areas of heavy rain rotate northwards into Scotland, risk of some prolonged heavy rain in east and central Scotland as well as across Northern Ireland and northern England. Largely dry with some sunny spells across much of the rest of England, Wales and Ireland, although with some heavy showers about too pushing in. Breezy in the south and west, lighter winds toward the north. Feeling fairly warm in any sunny spells, but cool in the rain. Maximum values 17 to 22C.

Friday night
Overnight, becoming dry for a time across much of England, although some rain, heavy in places, will push in across far southern counties later on. Showers or longer spells of rain still expected across northwest England, Ireland, Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland. Lows at 11 to 15C.

Saturday
Low pressure centred across northern Britain brings an unsettled day to most areas. Widespread bursts of rain and thunderstorms. These will be slow-moving across Scotland and Northern Ireland where winds are light, but will tend to drift from west to east across England, Wales and Ireland on a fresher breeze. Strongest winds toward the south coast. Eastern England will see a largely dry morning before showers build up. Fairly cool, temperatures 16 to 21C, warmest toward the southeast.

Sunday
Low pressure stays just to the north of Scotland on Sunday. Westerly winds are likely to bring further thundery showers initially across western areas then passing eastwards. Some bright or sunny spells about too. A breezy day for many but particularly around the English Channel. Highs 16 to 22C.
