Windy, cloudy Saturday
Chilly but bright Sunday

Saturday
A breezy day, with strongest winds in northern areas - gales over the hills, and locally gusty to the east of high ground. Weak fronts extend eastwards across the country producing a lot of cloud. Drizzly rain for western coasts and hills, which may be locally persistent, but total rainfall small. The Midlands, south & east should stay dry, with some sunshine breaking through. Fairly mild, highs 14 to 17C, warmest south & east, but cooler in rain.

Saturday night
Cloudy for many, with light rain or drizzle affecting many western areas, most persistent over the hills. Dry for central & south-eastern regions. A cold front will move down from the north, allowing skies to clear for Scotland and northern England later in the night. Staying blustery, with winds becoming north-westerly. Temperatures 10 to 12C in the south, but dipping colder in the north, 4 to 7C, and a frost likely in sheltered Scottish glens.

Sunday
A cool day for all as winds turn northerly. Bright with sunny spells for many places, best in central & western areas. Risk of brief light showers near North Sea coasts, perhaps also north facing coasts around the Irish Sea, and locally in Cornwall. Snow flurries possible over the Cairngorms. Fairly cloudy in the east & north-east, and also quite cloudy toward the south-west of Britain & Ireland. Chilly in the wind, highs 9 to 13C.

Monday
High pressure briefly extends across the country. Clear skies will lead to a widespread frost to start Monday morning - the coldest morning of the season so far for many. A dry and bright start, with plenty of sunshine. Cloud soon builds in the west & north as fronts approach. Patchy rain developing for Ireland and northern Britain. Light winds, but south-westerlies tending to freshen. Highs 9 to 12C, perhaps cooler in the north.
