Wet and windy in the north and west
Mainly dry into the weekend

Friday
High pressure stays to the east on Friday with lower pressure to the west. There will be an active set of fronts in western areas with some showery outbreaks of rain in western Scotland, western Wales and western England as well as eastern Ireland, perhaps locally heavy for a time too. More eastern and southern areas tending to stay dry with sunny spells and drier conditions. Windy across more northern and western areas too. Highs at 14C to 20C.


Friday Night
Mainly dry night ahead across much of the British Isles, but with perhaps some mostly cloudy and damp conditions, with patchy light rain or drizzle possible across parts of Wales and the Midlands. Elsewhere mainly dry with some clear spells and variable cloud. Winds becoming moderate or fresh S or SW'ly, a relatively mild night, lows 8C to 13C
 


Saturday
Into Saturday and high pressure continues to be influential just to the east and north-east of the British Isles and this will maintain mainly dry conditions across much of England and Wales through the day with some bright or sunny spells. Patchy light rain or drizzle may, however, develop across NW England and Wales later in the day. Across Scotland, especially W Scotland and Ireland a cloudier, breezier day is forecast with some rain or showers developing as the day progresses. Mild, if not warm for many areas, temperatures 14C to 20C.


Saturday night
Breezy and damp weather is forecast across parts of Scotla and Ireland on Saturday night with patchy rain and drizzle at times. Across much of England and Wales though it will be mainly dry with clear spells and variable cloud. Winds S or SW'ly moderate, but fresh or even strong across parts of Scotland and Ireland. A mild night, lows 8C to 13C.
