Very mild Sunday
Rain spreads south Monday

Sunday
A mild southwesterly airflow across the British Isles. A lot of cloud - the best of any brightness toward the east, with a little sun breaking through. Dull in the west and north-west. Rain or drizzle around western coasts and hills, most persistent toward the north-west. Rain becoming increasingly heavy in western Scotland. Blustery winds, locally gale force in the far north-west. Temperatures widely 10 to 13C, locally warmer in the east. 7C northern Scotland.

Sunday night
Heavy rain continues in western Scotland, turning to snow on higher mountains as cooler air moves in from the north-west. A cold front will then sink southwards across northern Britain and Ireland overnight, bringing a few hours of rain, heaviest over hills in the west. Strong to locally gale force westerly winds. Largely dry in central and southern Britain. Damp toward the south-west. Staying mild, 8 to 10C for many, but dipping to 2 to 5C in Scotland as skies clear.

Monday
A cold front advances slowly southeastwards, bringing a spell of rain, which is likely to affect central England and Wales for several hours, heaviest in the west. A weakening zone of rain and drizzle then drifts across southern counties, probably by afternoon. Brightening skies for northern regions, with some sunshine, best in the north-east. Showers affect western Scotland & Northern Ireland, these increasingly wintry. Highs 10 to 12C south, nearer 5 to 7C north.

Tuesday
A ridge of high pressure exists across southern Britain early in the day, whilst fronts are preparing to move in from the Atlantic. A bright start for many central and eastern areas, and it may stay dry all day here, although cloud is expected to thicken from the west. Rain soon develops for western Scotland, Ireland and later western parts of England & Wales - timing uncertain. Starting chilly, with frost for some. Highs 5 to 8C.
