Outbreaks of rain
Turning cooler

Tuesday
A cold front pushes from northwest to southeast across the UK and Ireland on Tuesday. This will bring spells of rain to northern and western Scotland, Northern Ireland and western Ireland in the morning, turning heavy and prolonged here at times. Rain will then spread southeastwards in the afternoon but turn lighter and patchier as it does so. Central and southeast England should stay dry with a good deal of sunshine throughout the day. Turning cooler in the north with highs around 13 to 17C here. Staying warm still in the south and southeast with temperatures here between 20 to 25C.

Tuesday Night
Rain clears away from Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland over night but pushes southeastward over Wales, northern England, the Midlands and southwestern England. Behind this to the northwest follow clearer skies and isolated showers while ahead of the rain, to the southeast, skies become cloudier through the night. Overnight lows at 4 to 6C to the northwest, 11 to 15C over much of England and Wales.

Wednesday
A cloudy and wet morning across central and east England as heavier rain moves through here. Sunny spells and showers elsewhere. In the afternoon rain still affecting parts of eastern England but largely dry across the rest of England and much of Wales as well as eastern Scotland. Further rain arrives over western Ireland later. Strengthening winds here too. A cooler day for all with high temperatures at 19 or 20C in the southeast; ranging between 14 to 17C across southern and central England; and ranging between 10 to 13C further north and west.

Thursday
Thursday sees one area of low pressure clear to the northeast of the UK while another moves in across Ireland, Wales and England. Bands of rain, these locally heavy at times, will sweep across parts of Ireland and the southern half of the UK. There will be some good spells of sunshine between showers. Cloudier with showers for Scotland, especially over northeastern areas and later, after the rain clears, for Northern Ireland and Ireland. A breezy day too, especially to the west and south, with cool temperatures spreading across the country. Highs at just 16C in the southeast and 11C further north.
