Heavy rain tonight

Thursday
A breezy day to come through much of England, Wales and Ireland. There will be some showers around southern and western coasts, with an area of more persistent showers or rain in northwest Englad and western Scotland as well as western Ireland. Drier and brighter to the north and east. Showers tending to pass through the Midlands and southern England as well as East Anglia this afternoon. Still showers affect west Wales and northwest England, a few in central Ireland. Scattered showers in western Scotland but tending to be drier and brighter in northern and eastern Scotland as well as northeast England. Highs at 5C in northern Scotland, 10C in the far south of England.


Thursday Night
Rain arrives through southern Ireland, Wales, central and southern England by midnight with the winds increasing too. Drier through northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The rain then pushes north through the night into Northern Ireland, the rest of England, Wales and the far south of England. Much of central and northern Scotland stays dry. Becoming drier later in the night across southern areas, but it wil be windy here with a risk of gales on the coasts. Lows at 2C in northern Scotland, 7C in southern England


Saturday
Low pressure north of Scotland on Saturday with a weak ridge of high pressure to the south. The will be showers in Scotland, most in the north and west where they could be heavy. Broken cloud and drier conditions in England, Wales and much of the whole of Ireland. Some sunny spells breaking through too. Showers in northern and western Ireland. The afternoon sees further showers in western Scotland and western Ireland, but for most it should be dry with sunny spells.
