Sunny spells, mostly dry
Wet & windy Friday

Thursday
Scattered showers this morning over central Scotland, the hills of northern England and parts of East Anglia. The showers soon fade to leave all areas dry and bright with some sunny spells. Cloud increasing over Ireland as a warm front approaches and this brings cloud and outbreaks of patchy rain. Staying dry elsewhere with more sunny spells. Highs at 22C in the sunshine in southern England, mainly 18 to 21C, but 16C in northern Scotland.

Thursday Night
Increasing winds with cloud and outbreaks of rain in Scotland and Ireland tonight. Drier in England and Wales although cloudier skies in the north and west. Some drizzle and rain reaches western England and western Wales by the end of the night. Winds may be to gale force on western coasts later. Lows at 9 to 13C.

Friday
A deep area of low pressure west of Scotland on Friday. This is pushing fronts eastwards taking heavy periods of rain across most of Ireland and the UK. Rain arrives in East Anglia and southeast England during the afternoon. At the same time brighter and more showery weather follows into Ireland, Scotland and the west of the UK. Winds will be to gale force, especially on western and southern coasts and hills. Highs at 18 to 20C.

Saturday
Low pressure will be over western Scotland on Saturday. A front may allow for some more persistent showers or rain in the far southeast of England. Elsewhere a windy day with a mix of sunshine and showers. The showers tending to be heavy at times and mostly affecting western and southern areas. More persistent rain in western Scotland and perhaps Northern Ireland too. Highs at 21 to 23C in much of central and eastern England, 16 to 20C elsewhere.
