Snow on hills
Unsettled overall

Wednesday
Low pressure is going to give a very unsettled day across most of the country. Showers or longer spells of rain affecting most of England and Wales. There will be some drier intervals too with some sunny spells developing. The showers heavy in Wales and southwest England with snow on high ground. A band of more persistent rain affecting northern England and passing east through the Midlands and southern England. Eastern England may start the day dry and bright although rain arrives here later. Southern Scotland will be unsettled with snow on the hills. Drier in northern Scotland with sunny spells. Much of Ireland is likely to be dry, although showers and rain affecting the far east with showers in the far west. Highs at 10C where the sun comes through, but just 4 to 6C in the cloudier, wetter areas.


Wednesday Night
More rain in much of Northern Ireland and southern Scotland as wel as eastern England. Snow will continue to affect high ground. The rain is likely to be turning more patchy as the night progresses. Tending to become drier in Wales and western England. Further rain in northern and eastern parts of Ireland, although drier in the west. Lows near 6C in southeast England, -2C in central Scotland.


Thursday
High pressure extends and builds through the UK and Ireland on Thursday. There will be a fair amount of cloud and it should be mostly dry too. Some sunny spells, most through Northern Ireland, southwest Scotland, northwest England and the west of Wales. More eastern and southern areas will be breezy with a fair amount of cloud. Generally it will be dry here but there will be some outbreaks of rain in the south. Highs at 6 to 12C.


Friday
High pressure remains over the country on Friday. Fronts close to the south coast will be bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain to the far south of England. A further front close to northern coasts of Scotland brings cloud and outbreaks of rain here. Elsewhere it will be dry with sunny spells in the west and some cloud in the east. Breezy to the south with highs at 10 to 14C.
