A zone of showers is expected to break out down the spine of England as a trough of low pressure influences the country. These will extend from the Pennines to the Midlands and southeast England, with rain becoming frequent in places by afternoon with some heavy and thundery bursts possible. A few showers also in Scotland, mostly in the south. Otherwise, for many coastal areas, much of Wales, SW England and Northern Ireland it should be often dry with sun. Highs 13 to 18C.

Tuesday night
Showers will fade into the evening and night, allowing skies to clear for most places. Some mist patches forming following daytime showers. Frontal cloud will spill toward southwestern Britain, where rain may develop before dawn. A few coastal showers may affect Scotland. Light winds. Overnight temperatures 6 to 10C south, 3 to 6C north, but rurally may fall close to freezing in Scotland.

Wednesday
Confidence of precise detail is low. Areas of rain are expected to move in from the west as a warm front extends in from the Atlantic. Most rain is likely to affect Ireland and perhaps southwestern Britain, although some patchy rain may move further across northern-central England through the day. Mostly cloudy, some sun, best in the east. Scotland will be cloudy with areas of showery rain on and off. Winds mostly light. Highs 13 to 17C, locally warmer in the east.

Thursday
A complex series of fronts will trail eastwards across the British Isles, resulting in cloudy skies and outbreaks of rain for many places. Some heavier and more persistent falls are likely for northern England, perhaps southern Scotland and Northern Ireland. A brisk westerly breeze in the south. Lighter winds toward the north. Temperatures may reach 17 to 19C in brighter spells in the south, but nearer 10 to 13C in wetter areas.
