Risk of snow
Icy overnight

Tuesday
Plenty of cloud around to start the day on Tuesday. They will be an area of the rain reaching Northwest England, Wales, Southwest England and Southwest Scotland, this area of rain having cleared eastern Ireland during the morning. The rain will turn to sleet and snow especially over high ground as it moves eastwards three Wales and into the Midlands and the rest of Northwest England through this afternoon. Snow may also begin to fall at low levels in Wales, central and northern England. Sleet and snow then pass east into east Anglia, southern and southeast England through late afternoon and into this evening. At the same time snow showers affect western Scotland and western Ireland, although eastern areas of both Scotland and Ireland should be dry, bright and cold. Tops at 6C in southwest England, 2 to 4C elsewhere.

Tuesday Night
Rain, sleet and snow may linger for a time tonight in East Anglia and southeast England, leading to additional accumulations, mainly over high ground but perhaps some slushy snow at low levels. Drier and frosty further north and west with clear skies allow ice to form on roads and pavements. Snow showers affecting western Scotland with a few in western parts of the Uk too. Lows at 0C in the southeast, -10C in central Scotland and widely -2 to -5C.

Wednesday
There is a low risk of some cloud and a few outbreaks of sleet and snow affecting East Anglia through Wednesday morning. For most other areas it should be dry and bright although starting frosty with ice in many areas. Scattered snow showers affecting Westin coast and hills, with more persistent wintry showers reaching northern and Western parts of Ireland. A risk of some heavy snow showers in northern Scotland too. Cold with temperatures at 1 to 3°C.

Thursday
A deeper area of low pressure close to southern Ireland on Thursday will bring strong winds and rain too much of Ireland and Southwest England. As this rain area moves northwards into Wales and the Midlands it will turn to sleet and snow, mainly over higher ground. Heavy rain could affect southern part of England. Dryer for northern England and Scotland although cloud increasing here with the sleet and snow reaching northern England by evening. Increasingly misty and murky in southern areas with temperatures at 7°C in in Southwest England, but more widely 1 to 3°C.
