Fair in the east

Friday
Plenty of sunshine in much of the UK this morning. Thicker cloud over western areas as a front passes east through Ireland bringing outbreaks of rain with it. The rain band reaches western Scotland, Wales and southwest England this afternoon, although eastern areas stay dry. Highs at 12 to 19C.

Friday Night
A band of rain edges eastwards through tonight. Most of the rain affecting northwest England and Scotland. Across the Midlands the rain becomes patchier and fades as it crosses southern England. Drier, clearer weather follows to the west, although there will be some showers in southern Ireland and southwest England. Rain clears to northeast Scotland by the morning. A cold night in the Midlands, Wales, southwest England, Ireland and western Scotland with a touch of ground frost for many. Lows at 1 to 5C.

Saturday
Low pressure is west of Ireland on Saturday. There will be a weak front leaving northeast Scotland with some rain in the morning, but this clearing. Most areas then dry with sunny spells. However, heavy showers in Ireland will be spreading to Wales and southwest England, perhaps into the Midlands and southern England by evening. Highs at 11 to 14C.

Sunday
