A trough of low pressure influences Britain. Sunny spells and some heavy bursts of rain are expected, these locally frequent over a few hours, passing from west to east. Some thundery downpours locally. The far south and southeast of England will avoid the worst of the showers and enjoy the best of any brightness. Western coastal regions become drier and sunnier during the afternoon. A fresh south-westerly breeze. Highs from 15 to 21C, warmest in the south and east.

Wednesday night
Residual showers will fade into the evening and night, leaving most places dry with variable cloud and some clear spells. A little showery rain is likely to move into western Scotland, plus the odd shower around coasts of west Wales. A light west to northwesterly breeze, strongest near to western coasts. Local mist patches forming inland where sheltered in areas which saw showers during the day. Lowest temperatures 7 to 12C, coolest in rural areas of the north and west.

Thursday
A ridge of high pressure is located over western Britain and Ireland, bringing dry conditions for many areas, although there will be some developing showers, these mainly towards southern and eastern areas, locally heavy in the afternoon, but quite hit and miss, with plenty of dry conditions and sunny spells overall. Fairly cloudy, sunshine best near coasts in afternoon. Mostly light winds. A warm day, especially in the south and east. Highs at 17 to 24C.

Friday
Slack pressure and light winds across the British Isles. Many places will see dry weather with a mix of cloud and sun, cloud tending to fill in during the afternoon inland across the country whilst coasts stay sunnier. A few showers are likely to break out, these focused toward eastern areas later in the afternoon, the odd heavy one is possible. A risk of more persistent rain reaching the southwest later. Feeling quite humid, highs 18 to 24C.
