Largely dry & bright
Quite cool; breezy north

Friday
A dry and bright day for many places, with good amounts of sunshine. Showery in western Scotland, with frequent rain, possible hail, or snow over the mountains. Local brief showers may move in from the Irish Sea to north-west England & Wales. Quiet cloudy in the far south. Light winds for central & southern areas, but a brisk westerly breeze across the north will make it feel cool. Temperatures reaching 7 to 10C after a chilly start.

Friday night
Dry across central & southern Britain as pressure remains high. Mist patches may form locally. A weak cold front moves southwards across northern areas, bringing variable cloud, and local showers, mainly around North Sea coasts. A separate weak front drifts into Ireland from the west, producing patchy rain and drizzle, which may extend to west Wales. Breezy and cool in the north. A touch of frost in sheltered spots. Lows 1 to 5C.

Saturday
A cool west to north-westerly breeze, strongest in Scotland and along North Sea coasts. A weak frontal zone lies across central-southern parts of Britain & Ireland, producing fairly cloudy skies and outbreaks of rain or drizzle locally - but amounts generally small. Low cloud likely to plague south-western coasts and hills. Bright and sunny spells for eastern districts. A few showers in the north of Scotland. Highs 7 to 11C, mildest far south-west.

Sunday
A fairly quiet day overall, with slack high pressure residing across the British Isles. Some bright and sunny spells. A cool northerly breeze is likely to affect eastern districts, whilst winds will be very light for many places. Some mist and murk may linger in central regions, and perhaps also around south-western coasts. A weak front brings cloud and patchy rain to Ireland and south-western Britain. Local showers near North Sea coasts. Cool at 6 to 9C.
