Wednesday
A showery day ahead. Sunny spells between the showers at first this morning but thicker cloud and more persistent rain in western and southern Scotland. Bands of heavy showers passing south, together with a strong northwest wind which will be making it feel cold. Probably fewer showers in northern and eastern Scotland this afternoon. Elsewhere the heavy continue, thundery at times. Highs at 8C in northern Scotland, 12C in southern England.

Wednesday Night
Showers tonight should be largely fading in inland areas. However, over western, northern and eastern coasts they will continue and they will be heavy at times. A chilly night too, especially where the wind eases. Lows could be to near 0C with a touch of ground frost.
 

Thursday
The cold and showery northwest airflow continues on Thursday. It is going to be a bright start for many, but showers already around western, northern and eastern coasts will quickly be penetrating inland. These become widespread and heavy through the morning with a risk of thundery and hail. The showers lasting well into the evening, although easing in Northern Ireland and northern Scotland. Only south Wales and parts of Devon may escape the heaviest of the showers. Highs at 8 to 13C.

Friday
Low pressure east of the country on Friday. A ridge of high pressure builds west of Ireland. A north to northwesterly flow affecting all areas and this is going to be bringing cold conditions to all. Showers in eastern Scotland and eastern England, a few further west too. Sunny spells and mostly dry for much of the UK and Ireland away from the east. Highs at 7C in northern Scotland, 14C in the Midlands.
