Heavy rain Tuesday
High, blustery winds

Monday
Fresh westerly winds affect Britain and Ireland. Showers focused on western areas, some merging into longer spells of rain, often heavy over northern and western coasts, with hail, or snow over the hills. Tending to be drier further east with the best of the sunshine. Feeling cool in the wind, highs 5 to 8C. A touch of frost into the night as skies clear.

Monday night
Dry for many for a good part of the night, though cloud will build hindering widespread frost development. Spells of rain move in from the southwest spreading northeastwards as the night progresses. Lows at 0C to 4C.

Tuesday
A frontal system sweeps across Britain, bringing extensive rain and strengthened winds, gales for some. Snow over northern hills, perhaps to lower elevations in central and northern Scotland. Heaviest and most rain over Wales and west Scotland where there is a risk of flooding here. Later in the day, the rain breaks up into showers from the west. Milder air sweeps through across the country with highs rising to 10 to 12C for many, still chilly across north and NE Scotland though.

Wednesday
An unsettled and blustery day for most. Showers and longer spells of rain across north and west Scotland with gale force winds here initially. Blustery showers expected across many western areas, some merging into longer spells of rain. Tending to be drier further east. Highs at 5 to 10C.
