Wind, rain, sleet and snow

Saturday
With high pressure to the east and low pressure in the west the UK is squished inbetween leading to a windy day for most with some western areas seeing winds reaching gale force strength. While milder air pushes in to the far west and southwest it is still feeling very cold again for most with a severe frost to start the day for many. Snow is expected to move in across Northern Ireland, much of Wales and over higher ground of the southwest of England during the morning, before affecting central and southern Scotland, northwest England and possibly towards the Midlands through the afternoon. Eastern and many central areas staying dry but it will be a cloudy day for all. Highs around -2 to 1C for much of the UK, but up to 10C possible in parts of south and west Ireland.

Saturday Night
A largely dry but cloudy and cold night is expected. Some snow showers will continue to affect central and southern Scotland as well some western areas of England and Wales though. More rain, sleet and snow to push in to tthe far west through the early hours. A windy night and milder for Northern Ireland, west Wales and much of the southwest of England. Still cold with minimums below freezing elsewhere and well below freezing still across Scotland and northern England. Lows at -8 to -1C for many but between 1 and 9C further southwest and west.

Sunday
Another cold day for Sunday. Snow initially then sleet and rain will sweep across much of the country on Sunday, turning heavy in the west, although the southeast corner of England should remain dry until the evening and overnight. Winds will continue to blow strong for many and near gale to gale force for some places towards the coasts and in the west. Highs at 2 to 5C for most but much milder in across Ireland, Northern Ireland, southwest England and west Wales with high here at 7 to 13C.

Monday
A cloudy and damp start to the southeast corner of England before rain clears here through the morning. Drier elsewhere but it will be a rather misty and murky day generally with low cloud giving some possible drizzle, turning into possibly heavier outbreaks of rain across western Scotland and Wales as well as southern English coasts at times. Highs between 3 and 8C in the north and east while the south and west expect highs between 9 and 12C.
