A mostly cloudy morning across the UK. There will be some outbreaks of rain and drizzle affecting western coasts and hills. An area of more persistent rain in western Ireland will be edging slowly east. Cloud and showery rain in northern Scotland with a risk of some sleet and snow on the hills. Showery rain affects northern England too. Staying cloudy in southern and eastern England, although that cloud will break allowing a few bright spells to come through. The afternoon sees Ireland becoming wet with plenty of cloud over much of the UK. Outbreaks of rain for northern England and again in Scotland ewith some sleet and snow on the hills. Staying drier to the south and east with plenty of cloud here too. Highs at 6C in northern Scotland, 10C in southern England.

Thursday Night
A cloudy and damp night to come over much of Scotland and Ireland. There will be some heavier bursts of rain affecting northwest England and northwest Wales. Showery rain and breezier weather in the far north of Scotland with sleet and snow on the hills here. An area of more persistent rain will be spreading through southwest England and into Wales later on in the night. More eastern areas tending to bec loudier and drier. Lows at 5 to 8C.

Friday
Low pressure to the south of Ireland brings an unsettled and breezy day. There will be rain, heavy at times, passing northwarsd through Ireland, Wales and England. Turning drier to the far south of England later. Scotland sees a mostly dry day with a scattering of showers, most in more central areas and closeto northern coasts. Highs at 11C in southeast England, mostly 5 to 8C elsewhere.

Saturday
Low pressure passes to the east on Saturday. The flow turns more northerly bringing a cold and unsettled day in much of England and Wales. This could turn increasingly to sleet and snow over the hills of the Midlands and northern England. There is a low risk of snow at lower levels for a time. Scotland and Ireland should be drier and brighter with sunny spells, the best in the west. Highs at 5 to 11C.
