A breezy, damp morning over much of the British Isles as fronts pass eastwards. There will be outbreaks of rain and drizzle covering hills and coasts, mostly in the west, but hill fog elsewhere too. Becoming increasingly mild too, although cold in Scotland. Gales may affect western and southern areas. Staying cloudy and windy into the afternoon with more cloud and periods of drizzle and rain. The rain turns heavier and more persistent in western Scotland, western Wales and southwest England as heavy showers follow to Ireland. Snow affects the hills of Scotland, and feeling very cold in northeast Scotland too. Winds becoming squally in the west for a time. Highs near 4C in northern Scotland, 12C in southwest England.

Tuesday Night
Windy overnight through England and Wales. Rain clears east but is followed by heavy showers in western areas, some of hail and thunder. Further heavy showers in Scotland, most in the west where there will be falling as sleet on hills. Lows at 3 in Scotland, 9C in southern England.
 

Wednesday
Low pressure to the east of Scotland on Wednesday. Showers for much of western Scotland, western England and western Wales. A risk of some cloudier skies and more persistent outbreaks of rain along southern coasts of England. The best of the sunny spells in central and eastern areas. Showers may be wintry over the hills of Scotland at times. Staying windy for much of England, Wales and Ireland. Highs at 5C in northern Scotland, 12C in southern England but tending to turn cooler during the day.

Thursday
A bright start to Thursday in Scotland and much of northern England. Cloud increasing in the south and west bringing outbreaks of rain and also some drizzle along coasts and hills in the south and west. Rain turns more persistent in Ireland as fronts move in, these edging north and eastwards as the rain turns heavier in the afternoon in much of Wales, Ireland and northern England as well as southern Scotland. Brighter and colder for northern Scotland. Becoming windier in England and Wales. Highs at 12C in southern England, 4 to 7C across much of Scotland, northern England and Ireland.
