Breezy with showers in the north
A little rain at first in the south

Wednesday
A weak cold front will move south through a ridge of high pressure over Southern Britain. Pressure remains low to the north of the British Isles with an occluding front moving south into Scotland. A narrowing band of patchy light rain or drizzle will move south across the Midlands and Southern England and Wales, with dry and brighter weather following. Sunny intervals further north but with showers affecting the far northwest of England, Northern Ireland and Western Scotland and a risk of longer spells of rain in Scotland later. Breezy in the north. A cool start to the day in the north and daytime highs only around 14C here. Cooler in the south too, temperatures up to 17 or 18C at best across the Midlands and South.

Wednesday Night
Rain will move east and south across Scotland and Northern Ireland, although the east and south may see little of this. Isolated showers in the west but a largely dry night for England and Wales with clear spells. A cool night generally with lows typically 7 to 10C and 4 or 5C for some sheltered spots.

Thursday
Pressure remains high over Southern Britain with a weakening occlusion moving south into Northern England. A warm front will push east across Scotland later. Rain will give way to showers over Scotland and Ireland, the showers most likely in the west with many eastern areas staying dry, but rain is likely to return overnight. Much of England and Wales will be dry with spells of sunshine at first, although tending to become cloudier and with some showers for the north and west of England and Wales. Fresh to strong west or southwest winds in the north. Still quite cool for many parts with highs of 14 or 15C but the east and south of England will see values of 17 to 20C.

Friday
Low pressure to the north of Scotland will move east with an associated cold front crossing Scotland and Northern England, while a ridge of high pressure covers Southern Britain. Showers for Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northern England and Wales, especially in the west, with the risk of a longer spell of rain for a time at first. Isolated showers over England, chiefly around the southwest, but largely dry with spells of sunshine developing. Strong winds at times in the north. Highs 13 to 16C the north, up to 18 or 19C in the south.
