Windier, rain in west
Rain moving east this evening

Monday
Central and eastern parts of England will get off to a cold, frosty start to the day. Any fog patches will lift as the winds pick up. Here it will be dry through the afternoon with morning sunshine giving way to more cloud. Across western Britain it becomes very windy and cloudy as outbreaks of moderate to heavy rain spill in. Through the afternoon that area of rain in the west will make little progress eastward, perhaps edging into the West Midlands. Gales to affect the north west. Expect highs of 4 to 7 Celsius.

Monday Night
A windy evening to come as the heavy rain spreads into central and eastern parts of England and Scotland. Lots of heavy showers follow in across Northern Ireland and western Scotland. Overnight that rain lingers across eastern Scotland and eastern England drier to the west with clear spells. Dry, cold and clear for central and western areas but perhaps too much wind for frost which may be confined to sheltered locations. Expect minimum temperatures of 2 to 6 Celsius.

Tuesday
Any residual rain across eastern areas of Britain should soon clear away. Occasional showers to affect parts of Wales, south west England and the western coasts of Scotland. Elsewhere it will be a dry day with good spells of sunshine. As it turns colder through the evening and the night, showers around North Sea coasts may begin to turn wintry in nature. Dry, cold and clear for central and western areas with a risk of a frost. Expect high temperatures of 6 to 9 Celsius.

Wednesday
Colder today and rather windy across Scotland. A number of snow showers to affect eastern parts of England and Scotland and with the winds coming around to the north east, a few may penetrate a bit further inland. Fair and dry across western parts of the country. Snow showers will continue around eastern coasts through the evening and night, perhaps giving some local accumulations. Rain comes in across Northern Ireland but dry elsewhere. Any frost may be confined to East Anglia, the south east and the Midlands. Look for high temperatures of 5 to 8 Celsius.
