Wednesday soaker south-east
Cool and windy

Wednesday
A slow-moving front brings persistent rain for east & central counties of England, with prolonged heavy falls for East Anglia & the south-east - local flooding is possible. A few showers in the south-west. High pressure to the west gives a fair day to Wales, northern England, Scotland & Ireland. Breezy, or windy on North Sea coasts. Only 13 to 15C where rain persists, but 17 to 19C west & north, locally warmer in sheltered spots.

Wednesday night
Heavy rain in the south-east will slowly fade, the heaviest falls becoming confined to coastal districts. A lot of cloud across south & central England. Elsewhere, skies should clear beneath high pressure. Strong winds in the east, coastal gales in East Anglia. Blustery too near western coasts, but winds easing inland for Wales and northern Britain, where dropping cool. Lows 7 to 13C, locally colder Scottish glens.

Thursday
A ridge of high pressure builds across the country, bringing a fair day to most places with a good amount of sunshine. Cloudy in the south-east, where the remnants of previous rain may linger, locally persistent in far south-east. Later in the day, cloud thickens in the north-west, with rain developing for Ireland and western Scotland into the night. Strong northerly winds in the south-east, easing slowly. Highs 18 to 22C.

Friday
Fronts move across the country from the Atlantic. Cloudy skies for most places, with outbreaks of rain, most persistent toward the north & west, with patchy rain spreading across the Midlands. Very little reaching the south-east, where some hazy sun is possible. Turning showery behind the rain for Scotland & Northern Ireland. A fresh south-westerly breeze. Quite humid, highs 15 to 18C north & west, 20 to 23C south.
