Northern rain
Dry & warm south

Tuesday
Rain across the northern half of Ireland to southern Scotland and the far northwest of England this morning, some heavy at times. This area of rain spreads leaks eastwards during the day to affect all of southern Scotland and areas north of Blackpool and York in the afternoon. Feeling cold on northeast coasts. At the same time the rain eases from Northern Ireland. Much of the rest of England and Wales start the day rather cloudy with some drizzle over western hills. This should fade to leave a few bright spells in the afternoon. Central and northern Scotland will be dry with some sunny spells, the best in the far north. Highs at 16C in northern Scotland, 13C in the damper parts of northern England, 25C in any sunshine across southeast England.

Tuesday Night
Cloudy across much of Ireland, northern England and southern Scotland tonight. Spots of drizzle over high ground continuing on and off throughout the night. Elsewhere it should be dry with broken cloud. Becoming chilly under the clearer skies in Scotland at 5C in central areas, but rather muggy further south at 12C.

Wednesday
High pressure is going to be to the east of Scotland on Wednesday. A front lies across Northern Ireland, southern Scotland and northern England bringing cloud and a few spots of drizzle here in the morning. This cloud breaks to leave some sunny spells, although a scattering of showers may develop in the afternoon. The rest of England, Wales and Ireland will see morning cloud break with sunny spells. Generally dry here, although a few thundery showers may break out in the far southwest later. Dry and bright in central and northern Scotland. Highs at a very warm 28C in the sunshine in southern England, 25C in parts of Ireland, 21C in the sunshine in northern Scotland, a muggy 17C in southern Scotland.

Thursday
High pressure remains to the east of the UK on Thursday. A trough in the west is going to allow for some thundery bursts of rain, extending from southwest England, through Wales, northwest England and into Scotland and Ireland. These storms may bring some heavy bursts of rain. Eastern areas of England should stay dry with some sunny spells. Muggy for all with highs at 23 to 29C.
