Much cooler
Largely dry

Monday
As a weak cold front clears the south, it will be feeling much colder today with a significant drop in temperatures from yesterday and with brisk north west winds. Overall we expect a good deal of cloud and only some brief, fleeting sunshine. Perhaps south west England will see the best of the sun. Occasional showers will affect northern Scotland and these may even be wintry over the Scottish Mountains. A few showers too are possible over Snowdonia and later around Humberside and Lincolnshire alter in the day. Quite a breezy day to come with maximums of 9 to 12 Celsius.

Monday Night
It becomes very windy across Scotland during the evening and night. Plenty of showers, some heavy with hail to affect mainly western parts of Scotland with a few showers on the northern coasts of Northern Ireland and Cumbria. For Wales and the southern half of England it will be dry and with less wind and cloud, it will be a colder night with a risk of frost, mainly in rural locations. Expect minimum temperatures of 0 to 4 Celsius.

Tuesday
A very windy day, especially across northern parts of Britain with gusts to 50 to 55 mph over the northern hills of Scotland. Outbreaks of rain across northern Scotland are expected to spread into northern parts of Northern Ireland and southern Scotland during the afternoon. Morning sunshine across Wales and southern England gives way to more in the way of cloud in the afternoon. It stays very windy into the evening and the night with spells of more persistent rain across the northern half of Britain while the south stays dry. Expect high temperatures of 9 to 14 Celsius.

Wednesday
It continues windy day with gales in the north east of Scotland and across Shetland. A rather cloudy day to come across the country. Light outbreaks of rain across Wales and southern parts of England should clear away leaving a drier afternoon with a few showers in the west. A number of showers are also likely across northern and western areas. Again over the mountains of Scotland these will fall as snow. A dry night across Britain with clear spells and a risk of a frost. Temperatures at 8 to 13 Celsius.
