Largely dry
Chilly in the wind

Tuesday
High pressure lies across south-western Britain & Ireland. A brisk westerly wind affects northern Britain - gales in north-east Scotland. Most places will stay dry, with sunshine best in the Midlands, south & east, whilst the north-west will see more cloud. Rain in north-west Scotland may persist much of the day. Cool at 5C in central areas, up to 7C in the south-west, also 7 to 9C to the lee of high ground in the north-east.

Tuesday night
Partly cloudy skies and a fresh north-westerly breeze should prevent a frost for many places overnight. Risk of a few showers around coasts in western Scotland, Northern Ireland, also west Wales and locally in north-west England. Central, southern & eastern regions of Britain will stay dry. Lowest temperatures 2 to 5C, although some sheltered spots may dip to zero. Risk of icy patches in the north.

Wednesday
High pressure extends across Ireland and western Britain. Dry with sunny spells for most places. Light winds in the west, but a strong northerly breeze affects eastern areas, particularly along North Sea coasts, where a few showers are possible. The remains of a front across the south-west may bring fairly cloudy skies here. Chilly in the north, 3 to 5C; up to 7 or 8C in the south-west.

Thursday
A frosty start for many areas. Dry with hazy sunshine, although cloud will thicken in the west and patchy rain develops later for western parts of Ireland and Scotland. High pressure will subside slowly toward the south-east through the day. Light winds for central & eastern regions. A freshening southerly breeze in the west. Temperatures 3 to 5C in the south & east, rising to 7 or 8C west & north.
