Bursts of rain
Occasional sun

Friday
Low pressure lies to the west & north of Britain. Largely cloudy, with outbreaks of rain drifting north-eastwards, heavy at times, most persistent in the north-west. Small amounts of rain for eastern counties. Brighter skies should develop from the west, but clusters of heavy showers will affect the south-west, and much of Ireland by afternoon. A south to south-westerly breeze, strongest in west. Mild 11 to 16C.

Friday night
Eastern Britain should be dry overnight, with some breaks in the cloud. Western areas will see areas of showery rain, locally heavy and merging into frequent rain toward the south-west. Winds fairly light. Temperatures staying around 5 to 8C for most, perhaps locally cooler in the north-east.

Saturday
A trough of low pressure influences the country, triggering areas of heavy showers throughout the day. These mostly affect western areas in the morning, but will break out more widely by the middle of the day, and by afternoon, will be most widespread across central & eastern areas. Isolated thunder. Some sunshine, best in the east early morning. Winds fairly light. Temperatures 11 to 15C, dropping where rain persists.

Sunday
A ridge of high pressure builds across the country, bringing a fine day to all regions. Variable cloud but a good amount of bright sunshine. Winds will be light and variable, then freshening southerlies will develop in the far west later. High cloud will tend to thicken ahead of fronts moving in from the Atlantic. A cool start, with a touch of frost in rural areas. Highs 11 to 15C.
