Rain arriving in Portugal
Much of Spain will be dry with areas of sunshine. Temperatures ranging from 10 to 12C inland, up to 17 to 19C around southern Costas. Thickening cloud in Portugal may result in patchy rain reaching the Algarve later. A good amount of sunshine for central and southern France, Italy and the western Alps.
Fair weather extends across the Balkans and Greece . Low pressure over Ukraine brings strong winds to areas around the Black Sea, plus much of Romania. Snow affects the Carpathian mountains, but should fade through the day. Mainly dry in Hungary, perhaps a little rain in the morning.
High pressure extends across north-western Europe, bringing mainly fair weather to France, Germany and the Low Countries. A zone of cloud and a few showers may affect southern Germany. Much of Scandinavia will be dry but cold - temperatures near or below freezing. Snow showers for northern Norway, also Finland. A cold northerly breeze around the Baltic, with a few showers drifting south into Poland.
Low pressure sweeps into western Iberia, bringing heavy rain and gusty winds to Portugal. A few thundery showers spreading to western Spain, although eastern areas will be dry and warm. Much of the Mediterranean remains fair, although a risk of isolated showers. Temperatures 12 to 16C in Italy, broken cloud and some sun. Chilly but dry inland across south-eastern Europe, although up to 15C for the Greek islands.
High pressure extends across central-northern Europe, bringing plenty of dry weather. A cool easterly breeze for France. Plenty of sunshine for Germany and the Low Countries, but starting frosty. Dry across the Alps. Cold for north-eastern Europe, with a north-westerly breeze, bringing snow showers into the Baltic states and northern Poland. Dry for much of Norway and Sweden, but showers in the far north-west. Very cold for northern Scandinavia, daytime temperatures below -10C inland.
